Trailer & Character Poster Revealed

We’re a little over a month away from that January 15, 2023 Premiere of the HBO series based on the hit video game The last of usand HBO has finally unveiled the full trailer thanks to a presentation at Brazil CCXP (Comic Con Experience), which is absolutely packed with exclusive content and shows how it falls left and right. The highly-anticipated first full look gives us a good idea of ​​the chemistry between Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, along with a glimpse of the scale of the show, which is said to be huge. I particularly enjoyed the use of A-Ha’s classic “Take On Me” (which features a brilliant, stripped down version they performed MTV unplugged). The series comes from the man behind one of HBO’s biggest limited series of all time, Chernobyl, Craig Mazin. Whether or not the heightened vibes of this series will come into play here remains to be seen, but from what we’ve seen so far this seems to take a different artistic path than all of the others Living Dead Series on AMC. If anything, the show seems more influenced by children of men than anything else.

The cast of HBO The last of us is led by Pedro Pascal as Joel, who is “tormented by past trauma and failures. He must trek across a pandemic-ravaged America while protecting a girl who is humanity’s last hope”; Bella Ramsey as Ellie, “a 14-year-old orphan who has never known anything but a devastated planet and struggles to balance her instincts for anger and defiance with her need for connection and belonging…as well as the newfound one.” reality she may have is the key to saving the world”; Anna Torv as Tess, “a smuggler and hardened survivor in a post-pandemic world”; Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy, “a former soldier who has not lost his sense of idealism and hope for a better world”; Merle Dandridge as Marlene, “the leader of the Fireflies, a resistance movement fighting for freedom against a repressive military regime”; Nico Parker as Joel’s daughter Sarah; Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, “a rebel in a quarantine zone”; Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett as Bill and Frank, “two post-pandemic survivors living alone in their own remote town”; Storm Reid as Ellie’s best friend Riley; and Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Woodard as brothers Henry and Sam.

Mazin also serves as one of the series’ directors, along with Kantemir Balagov (beanstalk), Jasmila Zbanic (Quo vadis, Aida), Peter Hoar (Doctor Who)Jeremy Webb (The Punisher), Lisa Johnson (What we do in the shadows) and the game’s creative director, Neil Druckmann.

The last of us is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint and game developer Naughty Dog. Druckmann serves as executive producer alongside Naughty Dog’s Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, and Mazin.
