WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s lawyers on Monday called on the federal judge presiding over his election subversion case in Washington to recuse herself, saying her past public comments about the former president questioned whether she could be fair.

The motion to dismiss by Trump’s lawyers targets U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, a former deputy public defender who was nominated for the judgeship by President Barack Obama. She has distinguished herself as one of the harshest punishers of the January 6 defendants.
