Two men were shot execution-style in North Philadelphia, police said

Two men were found dead after being shot multiple times at close range in the Hunting Park neighborhood of North Philadelphia on Wednesday morning. According to police, the execution-style shooting happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of West Pike and North Reese streets.

The victims, who police have not yet identified, were found bleeding less than a block from each other after police were dispatched to the scene in response to a 911 call. Then both victims were shot in the head, torso and chest, police said. Both men – one 42 years old and one 35 years old – were pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.

“It appears they were both executed,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small NBC Philly after the incident.

According to police, at least twelve shots were fired between the two victims. One of the men was hit by four bullets and the other was shot eight times.

Police could not say early Wednesday morning whether the victims were shot by the same person or by multiple shooters.

“It appears that at both crime scenes the shooter walked directly toward the victims and fired multiple shots,” Smalls said.

Authorities have not identified any potential suspects and have not made any arrests.
