VinFast stock’s early highs are now in the rearview mirror

Shares of VinFast fell early Friday, extending some of the steep losses since a surge that made the electric vehicle company one of the world’s most highly valued automakers.

VinFast stock recently lost about 3%. The price closed at $17.99 on Thursday, well below its peak of just over $82 on August 28th.

Shares of the Vietnamese company skyrocketed after its IPO. On its first day of trading on August 15, VinFast reached a valuation of more than $80 billion, putting it above more established companies like Ford and General Motors. Later in the month the value doubled again.
