MAJOR SPOILERS for Ahsoka. Read at your own risk. A faithful reunion. If you love Star Wars, you’re probably still in shock and wondering: was Anakin Skywalker there? Ahsoka Episode 4?
The episode begins with Ahsoka and Sabine still stranded on Seatos. They try to find the map to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, but Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati stand in their way. A lightsaber fight ensues between Ahsoka and Baylan Skoll, resulting in the former being thrown off a cliff. In the end, Sabine retrieves the map but is captured by her enemies and they jump into hyperspace. Ahsoka is nowhere to be seen until she encounters a familiar face in the final minutes of the episode.
So was that really Anakin Skywalker at the end of Ahsoka? Read on to find out.
Is Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka?
Is Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka? Yes! This was a loving reunion between Snips and her master. In the final moments of the episode, it is assumed that Ahsoka is actually in the world between worlds. The location was previously featured in Star Wars Rebels when Ahsoka and Ezra Bridger walk through it and encounter various moments along the way war of stars timeline.
As Ahsoka awakens from her fall, she hears a familiar voice. “Hello Snips,” says the voice. As any Star Wars fan knows, this is the affectionate nickname Anakin gave to his former padawan. “I didn’t expect to see you so soon,” he continues. Ahsoka turns and sees her old master in his prime (probably around the clone wars, but between Episode II and Episode II). “Anakin,” Ahsoka gasps in disbelief, and we see a close-up of the Jedi-turned-Darth Vader. The scene fades to black as the credits play Vader’s theme.
Many fans took to social media to express their excitement. “I’m fortunate to live in a time when Hayden Christensen is finally receiving the love he always deserved for his role as Anakin Skywalker,” wrote one user X (formerly known as Twitter). Another Posted, “During the sequels almost everything about Anakin was gone, it felt great to see him back in Ahsoka now, especially of course having Hayden Christensen filling in for him again. We needed this so badly! I’m crying my eyes out.”
Hayden Christensen returned as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader in Disney+’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was announced that he would be reprising his beloved character in Ahsoka in October 2021 via The Hollywood Reporter.
Whether he’s excited to be playing Anakin again, he said The guard“It just seemed like a really exciting opportunity. It was child’s play. In a heartbeat. When I got the call I was immediately hooked…I was just so excited to come back after all these years.” If afraid of the backlash in the present tense: “No, never! Do you think that’s a possibility?” he says. “I mean, it’s all on the table, but you know, that’s not factored into decisions like this for me.”
He talked about how he got the role. “I was a huge admirer of George Lucas,” says Christensen. “Even outside of his work on Star Wars.” His parents had bought him The Creative Impulse, a book about Lucas and his cultural influence. “I just loved everything. I was just excited to meet George Lucas. I think that probably worked in my favor at the time because I didn’t really take it seriously.”
He continued, “I wasn’t even a year out of high school and I found myself on this big movie production with George Lucas, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and all these incredibly talented people… I really couldn’t have dreamed of it .” better get up. I am so thankful that I got to be a part of it.”
“I think it’s a very powerful concept,” he says. “And one that resonates well with Star Wars storytelling as well.”
Obi Wan Kenobi It was the first time Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor had gotten back together in almost 20 years. “Seeing him as Obi-Wan again was such an exciting sight,” enthused Christensen Weekly entertainment. “We met just before we started filming just to chat, but it was overwhelming to see him as a character again.”
“The atmosphere on set that day was really electric,” recalls McGregor. “I was on set and filming for a while before Hayden started. I couldn’t believe how many people were there. I looked around and thought, “There are so many people on set today!” I couldn’t figure out what was going on. And then the penny clicked [he] I walked out in the suit and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, everyone’s here to see Hayden as Vader.'”
