Memorial Day weekend marks a homecoming for the NASCAR Cup Series and the longest-mileage race on the calendar. The series will be moved to Charlotte Motor Speedway in suburban Queen City for the Coca-Cola 600, where all teams’ headquarters are located.

Hendrick Motorsports, literally down the road from the speedway, is considered the team to beat, having won five of the 13 races so far this season plus last weekend’s All-Star race at North Wilkesboro.

Here’s everything you need to know before the Coca-Cola 600:

Top drivers and best bets for the Coca-Cola 600

Hendrick Motorsports has been dominant at circuits 1.5 miles or shorter, and it is reflected in BetMGM’s odds beginning of the weekend. Kyle Larson (+400) dominated last weekend’s NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro and has won at two short circuits so far, while William Byron (+700) has won three of the four moderate circuit races this season.

Best odds
Kyle Larson +400
William Byron +700
Denny Hamlin +750
Martin Truex Jr. +900
Chase Elliott +900

We wrote more about the odds earlier in the week and recommend, in Tyler Reddick (+1600), who is averaging 9.3 in four starts at Charlotte, and in Kevin Harvick (+1700), who won, to find a good mid-range value three times there. Ty Gibbs (+6000), making his first Cup start in Charlotte, is a tempting outsider having won and finished second in two Xfinity races.

Coca-Cola 600 weather

The prognosis demands Cool temperatures and rain all weekend, which will rub the temples of the schedulers at the speedway. In addition to the Cup cars, the track hosts practice, qualifying and racing for the ARCA Menards, Craftsman Truck and Xfinity Series. With Monday being a holiday, NASCAR may be more inclined to reschedule the Cup race faster than wait for the weather to clear until late Sunday night.
