When does Big Bear snow season start in Southern California?

SAN DIEGO (KSWB) – Big Bear Mountain’s snow season has officially begun.
As evening temperatures in the mountain town dropped to over 20°C last week, the Big Bear snow game fired up his snow guns to give Southern Californians a winter wonderland of white stuff.
From Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, the destination, which is home to the region’s largest snow tubing hill, accumulated over a meter of white material – enough to prompt an early start to the season on Saturday.
“Weather conditions this past week were absolutely ideal for snow production,” Kim Voigt, general manager of Big Bear Snow Play, said in a news release. “The results are simply amazing with three to four feet of snow. We are excited to announce that snow season is now starting!”
According to a Snow Play spokesperson, snowmaking at the destination will be able to continue overnight next week if forecasts indicate ideal conditions. If winter continues, eight runs will eventually be covered in more than 20 feet of snow.
Big Bear Snow Play is open daily at 42825 Big Bear Blvd. open. for tubing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Glow tubing sessions begin later this month on November 24th and run every Friday, Saturday and holiday from 5pm to 9pm until the end of the season.
Day passes for snow tubing, which include tube rentals and lift rides to the top of the hill, are $45. Children 36 to 42 inches tall can receive a day pass for $30 with a paying adult. Parking is free for all drivers. More information can be found here.
Snow Play will be the first location in Big Bear to open for the winter season.
For skiers and snowboarders, Big Bear Mountain Resort, which had a historic season last year with over 240 inches of natural snowfall, has also started cranking up the snow guns to cover its slopes with fresh powder.
According to the resort, season passes, lift tickets, lesson planning and equipment rentals are offered available for purchase Starting on Tuesday, November 7th, with an optimistic opening day in late November.
However, the exact date for the first day of the season at the resort has not yet been announced.
