Where does Miles Sanders fit best?

There aren’t many open spots in the current NFL depth charts where a high-end free agent or a draft pick on running back can moonwalk into a featured gig. The dolphins have one of those rare vacancies.
Miles Sanders was proven electric last year and has averaged 5.0 yards per carry throughout his career. The Dolphins’ two top defensive backs from last year will be coming to the market, and while they’re not flush with cap rank, the team likely won’t have to break the bank to make this work.
The Dolphins’ offense suffered some dips last season. I think it would help them balance if their running game was more consistent. Remember that Bills game where they went to the wire with Buffalo in the snow? That was one of their best rushing performances of the season. Sanders can help launch these types of games more often.
Ultimately, though, there’s a handful of other fun that suits for Jamal Williams around the NFL, I think he’s finding his way back to Detroit. He’s a team leader and a trusted player in their backfield rotation. A rotation they all reportedly plan to continue using in the future.
Williams would be an intriguing fantasy debate in a return-to-Detroit scenario this season. He’s unlikely to lead the NFL in quick touchdowns again. Still, I would suggest that he manage the team in carry if they make a financial commitment to him. I can’t imagine him sitting near his ceiling when Summer ADP crystallizes.
Most of the Ravens’ new arrivals at wide receivers over the past two decades have been either early picks in the draft or veterans in the later chapters of their careers. In Jakobi Meyersyou can break that cycle and add a proven launch receiver in the middle of its prime.
Meyers might not be the type of blocker they want — that might make them do it JuJu Smith-Schuster (more on him later) when looking for receivers – but he fits perfectly in the slot when widening the field in Todd Monken’s passing concepts. Meyers is notable for crossing routes and excavations that intersect with some Lamar Jackson’s best throws. Rashod Bateman can still be the guy as the primary outside receiver, but Meyers gives them steady layup presence to keep the offense moving.
The Chiefs likely feel they don’t need to make a big move at the wide receiver position after winning the Super Bowl with a collection of roleplaying players. This is a big name, but it’s hard to imagine Odell Beckham captaining a big-money deal given the current crossroads in his career.
The Chiefs have a few potential slot and/or gadget receiver prospects on the list Kadarius Toney And Sky Moore but the X-Receiver still lacks a proven man-coverage beater.
Beckham was that guy the last time we saw him play football. It’s a flyer worth picking up.
The Raiders look set to hit a quarterback high in this year’s draft. Whether Jimmy Garoppolo wants to admit it or not, he’s in the high-end placeholder area of his NFL career. If the Raiders take a rookie who would benefit from being behind a veteran, they can roll out Jimmy with a straight face, confident that he’s almost making the most of their passing talent.
Garoppolo is familiar with Josh McDaniels from the New England days and should be able to hit the ground running. At this point, Garoppolo’s signing with the Raiders could be the best scenario for fantasy football projection of guys like Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow And Darren Waller. This is a talented trio and we’ve seen Garoppolo be a top-five efficiency quarterback when surrounded by quality plays.
JuJu Smith-Schuster to the Chicago Bears
While I want the bears to swing and trade big De Andre HopkinsYour dreams often don’t come true. So JuJu Smith-Schuster is a good solution for the bears as a power slot receiver. He’s also a physical player that brings some pop as a blocker. That’s an added bonus for a Bears team that’s likely to remain run-heavy Justin Fields below middle.
JuJu would give the Bears offense a dependable player who knows how to settle into weak spots in zone coverage at shorter stretches. They didn’t hire such a player in 2022. A Darnell MooneyJuJu and Chase Claypool Trio isn’t among the best in the league, but it won’t be an awkward place for the Bears anymore.
Dak Prescott has often found good onfield relationships with his tight ends, but the Cowboys have typically only introduced former Day 3 picks to the position. In Mike Gesicki, they get a player who can actually move the needle. Forget how Gesicki broke out with a new coaching staff in Miami. He can still be a big slots player on a team that is spreading the field. I know Mike McCarthy paid lip service to being a run-heavy team, but as long as Prescott is under center they will remain a high-volume, fast-hitting passing team. Gesicki gives this type of offense a weapon she’s been sorely missing in 2022.

Jacoby Brissett was excellent as a placeholder for the Browns last year and he can bring it back to the Panthers in this role. The setup is similar. The Panthers have a good offensive line, will probably emphasize the running game and have a top outside receiver DJ Moore who must be smuggled targets like Amari Cooper was early last year. Brissett is familiar with new head coach Frank Reich and can help with the nurturing process of the eventual rookie drafted by Carolina.
Reports about Javonte Williams Health is complicated and the nature of his knee injury could see him missing a few games or at least not being anywhere near 100% in September. I find Damien Harris is really underrated in this running back market. He’s a competent, powerful early-down runner who may Function in the passing game when asked. He always reminded me of past saints peter thomaswho had some good years on Sean Payton’s offense.
D’Onta Foreman to the Carolina Panthers
Another running back relationship that just makes too much sense not to continue. D’Onta Foreman ran well for Carolina last year and helped set a physical tone. He’s by no means a feature back, but new running backs coach Duce Staley installed a three-man committee in Detroit last year and said he wants the same in Carolina.
Allen Lazard gives the Texans some much-needed bodies at the receiver location. He’s likely a #3 receiver but offers some inside/outside versatility with reliable hands. He’s also one of the best blocking receivers in the NFL, and you’d assume that Bobby Slowik and this new Texan coaching staff would bring some Shanahan elements to this offense. They need people willing and able to be blockers – good news for Dameon Pierce if you just die after one imaginative, needle-moving note in this blurb.
It sounds like a divorce is imminent Dalvin Koch and the vikings. The team always got a strong game from Alexander Mattison when Cook missed time. This gives him the opportunity to prove that he can fill this role full-time. Although I imagine he would face some level of competition from a newcomer.
Rashaad Pennys His injury history is long, but so is his explosive runs. Terrible joke, but the point is made. Penny brings juice to any backfield no matter how long he plays. The Bucs probably won’t let it happen Rachaad Weiss own the backfield all to himself, but that would allow him to be the 1A of this rotation.
A shameless “new manager, ex-player” connection. Sue me. Dalton Schultz is probably just an average starter but that would still be an upgrade for the chargers. Los Angeles primarily needs to add speed to this pass-catching corps, but Schultz is adding another midfield option JustinHerbert.
Tyler Allgeier was an efficient and effective option as a rookie. Even in this scenario, I think he has the best chance of leading the team in carries. But Falcons leadership have said they want to add more body to the backfield, and Kareem Hunt is delivering a proven resume.
