Why David Hyde Pierce isn’t returning for the Frasier revival


Paramount+ officially gave the green light for a new one Frasier Series with Kelsey Grammer in October. In the revival, Grammer will once again play psychiatrist and radio host Frasier Crane, and while the actor once hoped the original cast would return as well, it appears that David Hyde Pierce will not.
When speaking to personssaid Kelsey Grammer: “For a while we wanted to try and bring back the entire cast, the entire legacy cast,‘, but that all changed when David Hyde Pierce turned down the project. Of course, Pierce Niles Crane continued to play Frasierbut Grammer said: “David basically decided that he wasn’t really interested in repeating Niles’ performance,‘ which is certainly fair. When David Hyde Pierce decided not to return for the Frasier revival, Grammer said it benefited the project. “In a very fun way it just took us to a new place,‘ Grammer said, ‘what we originally wanted to do anyway, namely a Fraser third act. It’s a whole new life for him.“While it might be a little sad not to see Frasier and Niles reunited, it’s probably for the best that the show goes its own way.
Where the Frasier Revival will find its main character, Kelsey Grammer said: “He’s our brave little soldier moving on with his life, finding new challenges and a new love and new people and a new city and so on.The actor added that she “always honor the past” notably the death of John Mahoney, who played Martin Crane. “We will definitely deal with that‘ Grammer said. The new series is expected to consist of ten episodes, and Grammer said they will begin rehearsals in February. The actor first appeared as Frasier Crane in cheers in 1984 and played the character until the end of the series in 1993, after which he starred in his own series from 1993 to 2004.
