Woman hits oncoming traffic in Maryland Heights

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Missouri — A woman is arrested after she pulled into oncoming traffic to avoid officers Monday. Offenses against Desirea Thompson, 37, include resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and damaging property.
Police saw a gray 2013 Ford Fusion with no license plates driving south on McKelvey Road in Maryland Heights Monday. The driver tried unsuccessfully to flee into a driveway to avoid the patrol officer.
Subsequently, the car got into traffic and tried to get rid of the officers. According to police, the driver drove through the 35-mile zone at high speed. The car also sped through a school zone at 25 miles per hour. The car didn’t stop when officers tried to stop it.
The driver then ran into oncoming traffic on Dorsett Road. At that time, the Ford Fusion crashed into another vehicle. The collision pushed the car into the eastbound lane, hit the median and was disabled.
Thompson was arrested. She was driving with a suspended driver’s license and told officers her driver’s license was “bad.” Your security deposit is $75,000, cash only.
