Especially since some others have unwanted side effects.

Here are some of the deadliest spiders out there.

Brazilian wandering spider

The Brazilian wandering spider is sometimes called the banana spider because it has a tendency to jump aboard shipments – as a Tesco shopper found out last year.

Their venom is said to be extremely painful.

It attacks the nervous system, causing uncomfortable sweating and drooling.

But guys have even more reason to be wary of this creepy crawly as it can cause excruciatingly long erections.

Experts say it can last for many hours and even lead to impotence.

redback spider

Bites from female redback spiders can be dangerous — and even deadly.

They are also quite a number of reported incidents.

In Australia — where they are known to live — more than 250 cases receive an antidote each year.

The venom gets into the nerves, causing severe pain, profuse sweating, muscle weakness, nausea, and vomiting.

funnel web spiders

The funnel-web spider is one of the few instances where male bites are more venomous than females.

Their venom works with frightening speed.

It is capable of causing death in as little as 15 minutes.

Fortunately, no deaths from antidotes have been reported since the early 1890s.

Six-eyed sand spider

The six-eyed sand spider gets its name from its love of hiding in the sand.

There were no confirmed bites, but two suspected ones didn’t end well.

One victim is said to have lost an arm as a result of necrosis.

The other apparently died of severe bleeding.

Black widow

The black widow is one of the most notorious spiders around.

Both males and females are venomous, but only the females can actually kill humans with their bite.

Their bites are so deadly that they are said to be 15 times more powerful than a rattlesnake live science.
